Obituary

Leonard A. Benoit, age 94, of Brockton, peacefully passed away September 18, 2014 at South Shore Hospital following a brief illness. He was the loving husband for 65 years of Mary Louise (Cluett) Benoit. Lennie was born and raised in Middleboro, son of the late Joseph and Louise (Boucher) Benoit. He moved to Brockton as a teenager and attended Brockton Schools. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC’s) as a youth and veteran of World War II having served as a Staff Sgt. with the U.S. Army in the Philippines. For many years he was employed by White Brothers and Whiting’s Milk Company and retired after 10 years from the US Post Office in 1985. Lennie was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and longtime member of Club National and communicant of Christ the King Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife Mary Louise, he is survived by two sons, Richard A. Benoit and his wife Christy of Gresham, OR and William J. Benoit of Brockton and his girlfriend Katy Archibald of Middleboro; four grandchildren Richard Fyfe-Benoit, and Jonas, William and Lauren Benoit; many loving nieces, nephews and Godchildren; brother in-law to Helen Cluett of Weymouth, Loretta and the late Karl Koch of North Quincy and Patrick and Rose Cluett of Kingston and special friend to Norma and the late Francis Allen of North Abington. He was the brother of the late Raymond, Eugene, and Wilfred Benoit, Jeannette Bolling, and Lillian Allaire.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 5-8 pm. A procession will gather at the funeral home at 9:30 Wednesday morning for a Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Parish, Brockton at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
