Obituary

Timothy John Considine, 48, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the son of David F. and Patricia A. (Provancher) Considine of New Bedford. A previous resident of Brooklyn, New York and Los Angeles, California, Tim moved back to his hometown in 2010.
Tim attended Friends Academy and Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, and C.W. Post School of Long Island University, where he completed coursework toward a Film major. For more than 25 years, Tim was an award-winning special effects makeup artist who worked on feature films, television, music videos, and other projects. His work also appeared in and on the covers of numerous magazines, including Esquire, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and Vogue.
Tim was predominantly self-taught, though he did attend the Advanced Professional Makeup Course of the renowned artist, Dick Smith. In Brooklyn, he owned and operated a successful special effects makeup studio, creating custom looks, molds and prosthetics for a variety of clients including renowned photographers David LaChapelle and Mark Seliger. He also exclusively designed and created custom bald caps for Broadway shows including Blue Man Group, Beauty & the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, and the television series Saturday Night Live.
Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2000, Tim worked both as an individual freelance artist and with several effects studios. His feature film work included Thor (2010), G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra (2009), Valkyrie (2008), Scorpion King (2002) and Spider-Man (2002). His television work included House MD (2004), Nip/Tuck (2003), and The X-Files (2001). For his work on The X-Files, Tim won a 2001 Emmy Award for Outstanding Makeup for a Series.
In addition to his parents, Tim is survived by five brothers, Mark D. Considine and his wife Lori of Brattleboro, Vermont, Michael S. Considine and his wife Suzanne of Washington, D.C., Francis A. Considine II and his wife Traci of Los Angeles, California, Jonathan W. (JC) Considine and his wife Marybeth Nelson of Boston, and Matthew A. Considine and his partner Alex Monreal of Boston; two nephews, Alexander D. Considine of Yarmouth, Maine and Michael L. Considine of Brattleboro, Vermont, and a niece, Grace E. Considine of Boston; an aunt, Mary Lou Considine of Washington, D.C. and a cousin, Margaret Z. Considine of Great Neck, New York.
