Antonio “Anthony” Privitera, 74, of Derry, NH, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at his residence in Derry. He was born in Biancavilla Catania, Italy, on January 26, 1940. He was a Son of the late Giovanni Batista Privitera and Adizzone Agata. Mr. Privitera had been employed as a mason, where he retired at 65, in 2005. Mr. Privitera enjoyed spending time in the North End, in Boston. His hobbies included playing cards, traveling to Italy to visit with family and friends, and very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Privitera took great pride in his Italian heritage.
He is survived by his wife Rosaria G. Privitera, his children, John Privitera, of Salem, NH, Agata Privitera, of Catania, Italy, Alfredo Privitera, of Lawrence, MA, and Carmela Privitera, of Everett, MA, his sisters, Teena and Maria Privitera, of Methuen, MA, his brothers, Giuseppe “Joe” Privitera, of Methuen, MA, Salvatore and Alfio Privitera, of Italy, step-mother Adizzone Concatti as well as several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Saturday September 20, 2014 at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street from 9:00 to 11:00am. The funeral servicw followed in the Peabody Funeral Homes. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry, NH.
