Obituary

James H. Gallagher of Natick passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was ninety-six years old.

Born on June 17, 1918 in Watertown, he was the son of the late Hugh and Annie (McDonald) Gallagher. A veteran of WWII, he served our country proudly as a Private First Class with the Military Police of the United States Army.

Mr. Gallagher worked as a custodian at Brandeis University for over forty years, retiring when he was in his sixties. After a short time, he missed his co-workers and the students so, he went back to work part-time for twenty more years until he retired again at the age of eighty-two.

He was the devoted husband of Mary E. (MacLeod) Gallagher of Natick with whom they shared fifty-one years of marriage.

He was the loving father of James Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Laurie Cavossa of Natick, Donald Gallagher of Newton and Maureen Harris of Boston.

Cherished grandfather of Sage, Hunter, Alec, Autumn. Caring brother of the late Norman Gallagher and his late wife Grace of Watertown. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Thursday, September 18th at 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.

Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial is private.
