Fairhaven – Lionel P. Ramos, age 89 of Dartmouth, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Alden Court Nursing Center after a long period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Leonora (Aguiar) Ramos and the son of Maria (Pacheco Carvalho) and Joseph Ramos. Lionel was born in Fall River, moved to the Azores at the age of 2 and returned to this area in his late teens.
He worked as a Groundskeeper at New Bedford Country Club until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters: Leonora Elizabeth Thomas and her husband, Anthony, of Dartmouth, Doreen Ann Robinson and her husband, Michael, of Seekonk; 8 grandchildren: Kendra Harris and her husband, Kevin, Tara Thomas, Erik Thomas, Jason Blier, Jeffrey Blier and his fiancée, Amy, Benjamin Blier and his wife, Krystal, Daniel Gauthier and his wife, Jennifer, and Jacob Robinson; 3 step grandchildren: Stacey, Lauren and Jennifer Robinson; 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Ramos, Mary Lima and Margaret Carreiro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Julie Billiart Church on Wednesday, September 17 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the funeral home the morning of the Mass beginning at 8:00 A.M. Please omit flowers. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
