Obituary

– Ida I. Pelletier, 90, of Franklin St. Lincoln, formerly of School St., Albion died Thursday September 11, 2014 at Home & Hospice Care of RI Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. She was the loving wife of the late Lucien J. Pelletier who passed away on July 5, 2013.
Born in Richmond, Virginia she was a daughter of the late Walker and Etta (Klein) Floyd. She was raised in Ocean View, Virginia and graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia.
During the WWII years Ida met Lucien Pelletier. They married on September 27, 1944 returning to Rhode Island after the war and making their home in Albion.
Mrs. Pelletier was employed in her early years as an accounting clerk for the Federal government in Portsmouth, VA. Locally she worked at American Tourister and for the Town of Lincoln as a bus monitor for special education students. Ida was also well-known for working the counter at J&A Variety store in Albion.
Ida was a longtime communicant of St. Ambrose Parish and was the Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She was a den mother when her sons were cub scouts and was active in the Lincoln Manor association. Ida also enjoyed challenging puzzles.
Ida will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by two sons Gerald J. Pelletier and his wife, Cheryl, of Charlotte, North Carolina and Gary B. Pelletier and his wife, Janice, of Warwick. She was the sister of the late Catherine Bryant. Ida is also survived by four grandchildren Scott Pelletier, Kellie Pelletier Macdonald, Brian Pelletier and Kimberly Pelletier, and six great-grandchildren Alex, Andrew, Aiden, Anna, Emma and Logan and several nieces and nephews.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Ambrose Church, School St. Albion. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St. Manville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Ambrose Parish, 191 School St. Albion, RI. 02802.
