Obituary

Harlan A. “Mac” MacDonald, 87, of Londonderry, NH, died Saturday September 13, 2014 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. He was born in Derry, NH on March 4, 1927, a son of the late Edgar and Gladys (Young) MacDonald, and had been a resident of Londonderry for most of his life. Mr. MacDonald served with the US Navy during WWII. He had been employed as an auto mechanic for Younker's Esso in Derry, a truck driver for Pyrofax Gas, and as a truck driver for Suburban Propane in Plaistow, NH where he retired from in 1979. Mr. MacDonald was a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles AERIE #663 where he also served as a longtime trustee. He was life member of the Halcyon Club in Derry, and a member of the Deerhead Sportsmen Club in Hooksett, NH, as well as the American Legion Posts in Derry and Londonderry.
He is survived by his son, Wayne D. MacDonald of Londonderry; his brother, Kenneth MacDonald and his wife Patricia of Carlisle, PA; his sister, Phyllis Patten of Shelbyville, KY; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Frances (McDuffee) MacDonald in 2005, and by three brothers.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, September 16th from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The funeral service was held on Wednesday at 9:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
