New Bedford … Sue Plichta, a lifelong resident of Fall River, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014. She was born April 18, 1918 to Walenty and Pauline (Warhol) Nowacki. On June 10, 1946, Sue married Raymond Plichta. Sue and Ray were married for 59 years until Ray’s death in 2005. Sue was an uncomplicated woman with uncomplicated dreams. She did not aspire to lofty positions or titles, but like millions of members of the Greatest Generation, she wanted only to be a good wife, a good mother, and a good Catholic. She excelled at each of her goals. Sue had four rules in life: be kind, be kind, be kind, and be kind. A superb listener, she possessed a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved. The ever-present twinkle in her bright blue eyes captured the hearts of all. She adored dancing and if guilty of a single character flaw it was that she’d tell everyone just how good a dancer she’d been. She was proud of sewing ability and believe it or not her specialty was buttonholes. She was a proud member of the Polish community and was able to travel to Poland in the 1980’s. She never lost the ability to speak the Polish language. Sue was the best friend anyone could have---empathetic, loyal, and charitable. She brightened every room and every conversation. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of the Holy Cross Rosary Society, Sts Peter and Paul Retirees Club, and the Niagara Drop In Center. She retired from the Fall River Gas Company in 1981. She is survived by her loving children Thomas and Karen both of Fall River, her sister Loretta Szulewski in Florida and her brother Frank of Fall River. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
