TAUNTON - Manuel Moniz, Jr., husband of Dorothy (Lapete) Moniz of Taunton, died on Sept. 11, 2014 at the Signature Health Care Center in Brockton following an automobile accident several weeks ago.
He was 81.
Born and educated in Dighton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Edna (Correia) Moniz, Sr.
He moved to Taunton many years ago and was employed by Taunton State Hospital for many years, retiring several years ago.
A member of the Knights of Columbus Council 52 and Eagles Aerie 845, Manny enjoyed square dancing, and was a member of the former Taunton Twirlers.
He was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Theresa Moniz and Brenda L. Lynch, both of Taunton; 5 brothers, Eugene, Charles and Bruce Moniz, all of East Taunton, Richard Moniz of Bristol, RI and John Moniz of Taunton; five sisters, Edna Mae Antunes of Lincoln, RI, Lorraine Chappell, Maureen Hebert and Nancy Jones, all of Taunton, and Sandra Baylies of East Taunton; two grandsons, Aaron and Austin Lynch, both of Taunton; an aunt; an uncle; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Dorothy Menice.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Sept. 15th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Sept. 14th from 5 to 8 p.m.
