George F. McPherson, age 80, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on September 10, 2014, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane M. (Damrath) McPherson.

George attended Woburn Schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School with the class of 1952. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. Following his return home from active duty he began his career with the United States Post Office where he worked faithfully for well over thirty years retiring as a supervisor. George enjoyed reading, working in his yard and tending to his garden. Over the years he also enjoyed vacationing in Maine and New Hampshire with family and friends. However his greatest joy was his family and he was most happy when he was surrounded by his family together sharing each others company and making many wonderful memories. George was also a member of the Woburn Elks.

In addition to his late wife, George is predeceased by his grandson, Brian Perrault. He is survived by his devoted children, Sheila Perrault and her husband Fred of Tyngsboro, Thomas McPherson and his wife Marianne of Wakefield. He was the loving grandfather of Conor and Megan Perrault, Benjamin, Tristan, Colon, Anthony and Jake McPherson.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, September 15th, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the funeral service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
