Peter A. Rodrick, 98, of Uvalde, TX passed away on Saturday, Sept 6, 2014 at the Amistad Nursing Center with his daughter Arlene by his side. He was the husband of the late Ruth E. (Boynton) Rodrick.
Born June 6, 1916 in Brockton MA, he was the son of the late H. Arthur and Alberta M. (Menard) Rodrick. He was a 1934 graduate of Mansfield High School, and lived most of his life in Mansfield before moving to Florida after his retirement in 1978. In 1996, he moved to Bulverde TX to live with his grandson, Brian Siegfried, then in 2010 he went to Leakey TX to reside with his daughter Arlene.
Peter was employed as a machine operator, inspector and foreman for The Bay State Tap & Die Company and S.W. Card, and was a call fireman for the Mansfield Fire Dept. for many years; his most notable fire was ‘The Tavern’, a famous landmark that burned down about 1949. He enjoyed bowling, photography, and taking long walks and bike rides.
He is survived by his four children: Arlene Siegfried and her husband William of Leakey TX, Beverly Slattery and her husband William of Norfolk, Laurence and his wife Mary Jean of Milford, and Jerilyn Farinella and her longtime companion Luigi Giovino of Mansfield. He was the grandfather of eight: Brian Siegfried, Sean Slattery, Christine Rankin, Timothy Rodrick, Lauren Giardini, Julie Rodrick, Michael Farinella, and Arlene Brown; he is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Peter was the brother of the late Ernest Rodrick and Josephine Lemire.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, September 15th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Monday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Mansfield Fireman’s SAFE program, 10 Plymouth St, Mansfield MA 02048. Checks should be made out to the ‘Town of Mansfield’ with the notation ‘SAFE donation’.
