Govan, John, 82, of Plymouth formerly of Duxbury, passed away on September 8, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. Husband of Larisa Osintseva of Plymouth, father of Mathew Govan of Portland, ME and Maria Swanson of Abington. He also leaves 3 grandchildren Grace Govan and Travis and Hugh Swanson and two sisters, Judy Murtagh of Chelmsford, and Joan Govan of Annville, PA.
John was born in Boston the son of Gerald and Grace (Harrington) Govan. He went to Belmont Hill School and Babson College. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict He owned and operated Duxbury Wine and Spirits in Halls Corner for many years. After his retirement he did volunteer work teaching reading skills. A gathering of remembrances will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 619 State Road (Rte 3A) Plymouth (Manomet) on Saturday September 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. All other services and burial will be private.
