Worcester – Jean L. (Riopel) Ethier, 88, of Worcester, died in her home on Friday, September 6th after being striken ill.
Mrs. Ethier was married to Alfred Ethier who died in 1990. She is survived by a son, Richard Ethier of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Claire Merchant of Charlton and many nephews and nieces. Jean was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William and Louise (Lavallee) Riopel and is also predeceased by two brothers, William and Richard Riopel and three sisters, Marguerite McShera, Dorothy Mercuri and Louise Burnette.
Jean worked for many years at the David Clark Company where she was an integral part of spacesuits designed for the NASA Gemini Project. She previously worked at Reed & Prince Company and was an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. She also enjoyed taking day trips for shopping as well as baking for her family and friends. Mrs. Ethier also spent more than 30 years dedicating her time as a poll worker for the City of Worcester during their elections.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 10th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday, September 9th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
