Obituary

Carmela A. (Colapinto) Slinger, age 94, of Brockton, died peacefully, September 5, 2014 at West Acres Nursing Home. Carmela was the wife of the late James L. Slinger. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Philomena (Angelo) Colapinto. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1938. For many years she worked at Brockton City Hall in the City Clerk’s Office and Tax Collectors Office, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, sewing and baking. She also loved to travel, especially to Hawaii.
Carmela is survived by her daughter Ann M. Burke and her husband Bill of Brockton; three grandchildren Michael Burke, Nicole Casarez and her husband Pete and Colleen Burke and two nephews. She was the sister of the late Edward Colapinto and Gloria Malo.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 9-10am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 10:30 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carmela’s name to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Mass., 1300 West Elm St. Ext., Brockton, MA 02301.
