Barbara S. Henry, 90, of Derry, NH, died Monday September 1, 2014 in the VA Medical Center in Manchester, NH. She was born in Providence, RI on September 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mabel (Patnaude) White. She had been a resident of Derry for the past two years, formerly living in Lincoln, NH, Whitefield, NH and Arlington, MA. Mrs. Henry was a US Coast Guard veteran serving during WWII. While in the Coast Guard, she served with her husband whom she married in 1945. She was a member of the American Legion National Post. Mrs. Henry loved farming, animals, cross country skiing and especially swing dancing.
She is survived by her husband Ottawell Henry of Derry; her children, Elizabeth Cobb, Janet Murphy, Patricia Donovan, Laurie Moran, Michael Henry, and Timothy Henry; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and her sister, Pauline Brown. She was predeceased by her sister, Teresa Jacques.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, September 3rd from 4 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made an Alzheimer's Disease Association of your choice.
