Mr. Ronald A. Sousa, of Taunton, died Monday, September 1 in Taunton Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Marie E. (Chamberlain) Sousa. He was born 76 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Weeks) Sousa. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Ronald had been employed by Harodite Finishing Company in North Dighton for 35 years. He enjoyed horse and dog racing, bowling at Capeway Bowl, Saturday night card games with his family, and and visiting local ball fields to watch his son, his brothers and his grandchildren play softball.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 son: David Sousa and his fiancée, Mary Kuczewski of Taunton; 3 daughters: Robin Miller and her husband, Allan of East Taunton, Cheryl Flint and Daniel of Taunton, and Darcy Brownell of Tiverton, R.I.; 4 brothers: Stephen Sousa and his wife, Eileen of Westport, Stanley Sousa and his wife, Lorraine of Taunton, Joseph Sousa, Jr. and his wife, Gail of Taunton, and Charles Sousa and his wife, Janyce of Raynham; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Sousa of Taunton; 14 grandchildren: Joseph Sylvia, Tiffany McGann, Vanessa Flint, Mason Sousa, Colton Sousa, Ali Mabrouk, Leonor Mabrouk, Ashlie Mabrouk, Samuel Rivera, Samantha Rivera, Felicia Rivera, Russell Dias, Emily Dias and Krystal Brownell; 7 great grandchildren: Bryce and Brett Sylvia, Quinn McGann, Catherine Mabrouk, Penelope Rivera, Scott Swale, and Mia Dias, and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was also the father of the late Russell Sousa and Catherine Mabrouk, and the brother of the late Brian Sousa, Sr.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, September 5 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
