Virginia P. (Waite) Hedderig of Natick passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Eliot Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Natick. She was ninety-seven years old.
Born on June 9, 1917 in Jamaica Plain, she was the daughter of the late Harold P. and Gladys (Forehand) Waite.
Raised in Sherborn and a graduate of Sherborn High School in 1935, she worked as a self-employed seamstress and designed the gowns for two Miss America contestants.
A member of the Order of Eastern Star for seventy-five years and a supporter of the Sherborn Public Library, she was the devoted wife of the late Howard G. Hedderig with whom she shared over sixty years of marriage.
Loving mother of Barbara J. Crockford and her husband Dana of Natick and Bruce A. Hedderig and his wife Katheryn of Arroyo Grande, California.
Cherished grandmother of David Crockford and his fiancée Patricia, Russell Crockford and his wife Danielle, Jeffrey Hedderig and his wife Sonia, Michael Hedderig and his wife Elena and the late Karen Hedderig.
Great grandmother of Jacob and Joshua Hedderig and Max and Aidan Crockford.
Caring sister of Paul Waite of Florida and also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 39 E. Central St., Natick on Friday, October 3rd at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
