Ada Doolittle, age 97, went to heaven on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at NHC, North Augusta after telling friends and family goodbye.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at The Sanctuary with the Reverend Bryan Cockrell officiating.
Ada Axie Rodgers Doolittle was born October 23, 1916 in Ward, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Doolittle and children, Betty, Shirley, and Donnie. She is survived by her seven children and their spouses; Jackie and Marcia Doolittle, Rudolph and Ollie Doolittle, Floyd and Anita Doolittle, Sonya Canon, Lanny and Wanda Doolittle, Mike and Shirley Doolittle, and Gerald and Patricia Doolittle. She leaves her love and a Christian testimony as a heritage for twenty-three wonderful grandchildren and many precious great and great-great grandchildren and a large host of nieces, nephews, and friends. For the past eight years she was cared for by the dedicated staff and administration of NHC, whom she considered her family. Her work career included employment at Seminole Textile Company, Superior Laundry and Dry Cleaning; Bower’s Thrift Store; Richmond County Board of Education at Joseph R. Lamar Elementary; Richmond County Sheriff’s Department as a school crossing guard; and after retirement, Falcon Children’s Home in Falcon, NC. The legacy of her faith spans over eighty years of service to her precious Lord Jesus and her family. Her children rise in honor and called her blessed. She has fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith, and now she enjoys the presence of The Lord as she awaits the reunion with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from the hours of 6PM until 8PM.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Ricky Doolittle, Larry Doolittle, and Brice Doolittle, Kenny Lively, Duane Lively, and Benny Lively. Honorary pallbearers will be National Healthcare Staff and Administration.
