Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” (Webber) (Collins) Belyea, 95 of Abington passed away on Thursday August 28th after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Richard Collins and Arthur Belyea.

Betty was born in New London, CT., daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Dutton) Webber. She was a graduate of Milton High School and the School of Domestic Science in Boston.

Betty was a longtime resident of Abington for more than 60 years. She was the Assistant Treasurer of the former Abington Savings Bank for many years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Abington. She was a past president of the Abington Women’s Club and the Abington Garden Club and was involved in the Cub Scouts and DeMolay Mothers. She also volunteered at the South Shore Hospital after her retirement.

She is survived by her children Samuel Collins of Norwell and Charles Collins of Abington, and the late Brinton Belyea of Virginia, her grandchildren Dana and Robin Belyea and Richard Collins, and her great grandsons Joshua and Evan Belyea.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday September 4th at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Abington, followed by a burial in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Her visitation will be held on Wednesday September 3rd from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
