Richard Everett “Dick” Humphrey, Sr., age 75, a resident of Winchester for over 50 years, formerly of Woburn, passed away on August 28, 2014. Mr. Humphrey fought a valiant battle with cancer and finally succumbed to his illness in his sleep at Lahey Clinic with his wife Donna (Elliott) Humphrey by his side.

Born in Arlington, Dick was the son of the late Everett and Violet (Anderson) Humphrey. He was raised in Woburn, graduating from Woburn High School with the Class of 1956.

Dick was a retired employee of the Town of Winchester Highway Department. In his spare time he enjoyed classic cars, the beaches of Falmouth and Wells, ME, and “reading” audible books.

In addition to his wife, Donna, Mr. Humphrey is survived by his children: Joan Marie Humphrey and Richard Everett Humphrey, Jr., both of Winchester. He was also the brother of Karen (Humphrey) Brady and her husband, Philip, of Morristown, NJ, brother-in-law of Mary (Elliott) Priante and her husband Manuel, of Wilmington, and is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday, August 30th, from 9:00-11:30 AM followed by a Funeral Service at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 12 noon. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s memory may be made to the Winchester Hospital Center for Cancer Care, payable to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, 611 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890.
