Margaret M. “Peggy” (Munger) Burke of Natick passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center of Natick. She was eighty-nine years old.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on March 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Flora M. (Elser) Munger.
Peggy attended Newton High School and worked at Dooley’s Drug Store in Newtonville in the 1940’s.
Mrs. Burke raised her four children in Newton and loved her family, watching television, playing cards, horse racing, traveling to Saratoga, New York with her husband Bill and the Boston Red Sox.
She then worked on the space program at Raytheon, helping develop the Apollo spaceship’s rockets in the 1960’s and finally worked at the first CVS Store in West Newton during the 1970’s.
She was the devoted wife of the late William P. Burke, Sr. with whom she shared fifty years of marriage.
Loving mother of Patricia A. Roberts and her late husband George of Wareham, Donna M. McGuire and her husband David of Marlboro, Colleen T. Carmichael and her husband Brian of Northfield N.H. and William P. Burke, Jr. of Natick.
Cherished grandmother of eight, great grandmother of eleven and great-great grandmother of one.
Caring sister of Fred Munger of Watertown and eight deceased siblings.
Also survived by many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Saturday, August 30th at 9:00AM.
Mass of Christian Burial in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
Visiting hours Friday, August 29th from 4:00-7:00PM.
Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
