CHICOPEE – Roland A. Tanguay, 89, a resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. He was born in Holyoke on November 4, 1924, a beloved son of the late Albert and Odelie (Bolduc) Tanguay. He was raised and schooled in Holyoke and lived in the city for many years before moving to Aldenville in 1956. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed for 37 years at the former Hano Business Forms in Holyoke and retired in 1986. During his leisure time, Roland enjoyed being with his family and playing cards. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend of over 55 years, Lillian (Larocque) Tanguay who was Called Home on March 27, 2003. He leaves his dear sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Joseph Mucha; and his many dear nephews, nieces, and extended members of the Tanguay and Larocque families. As his health declined, Roland was fortunate to have a loving family of caregivers, Marie-Anne and Gary Forni, Arthur and Janet Bergeron, and Bernard and Debra Bergeron. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, August 28, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial with US Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
