Pearl Downs Perry, 87, of Tifton died Monday, August 25, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Elmer Golden and Rev. Herman Walker officiating. Mrs. Perry will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Barry Downs, Tony Downs, Johnny Griffin, Wayne Perry, Joe Perry and Jason Brown will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Perry’s grandsons and great-grandsons, Richard Deal, Destin Deal, Hunter Hilton and Reese Hilton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Perry was born on January 20, 1927 in Worth County and was the daughter of John Downs and Cora Spence Downs, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one step-daughter, Delathia Jones; three brothers; and three sisters. She was retired from Avondale Mills and a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.
Mrs. Perry is survived by her husband, Charles Arthur Perry of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Willie John and Diane Deal and David and Betty Deal, all of Tifton; one step-son, Wesley Perry of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Glenn Stokes of Fitzgerald; one step-daughter, Sue Perry of Tifton; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
