Mildred C. "Millie with the laughing smile" Scutellaro

Mildred C. Scutellaro, of Billerica, formerly of Burlington and East Boston passed away peacefully at home in the company of her loving family. She was 90.

Millie was born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Caterina (Matera) DeBlasio. After high school, Millie enrolled in the former Trade School for Girls in Boston, where she learned the art of dressmaking. A talented seamstress, Millie worked for many years specializing in making wedding gowns. One of her most famous pieces was the hand sewn and beaded veil for the wedding gown of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s niece. She lived on Beacon Hill after her marriage and also lived in Burlington before settling in Billerica.

Millie always had a laughing smile and loved to share her joy with family and friends. She and her husband were avid travelers and she enjoyed the company of her many friends at bingo.

The beloved wife of Louis J. Scutellaro, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, she was a devoted mother to James Scutellaro of Billerica, Catherine Paolillo and her husband Joseph of Wakefield. She was a dear sister of the late Samuel, Louis, Michael and Thomas DeBlasio and also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, August 28 from 4 thru 8 PM with a service of remembrance at 7PM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Millie’s name to VNA Middlesex East Hospice, 607 North Ave. Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
