Gaetano Lombardo, 84 of Somerville, died Wednesday after a brief illness in the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.

Born in Calabria, Italy he lived in Somerville since 1970. He was the son of the late Maria (Macri) and Vincenzo Lombardo. Gaetano was a produce preparer with Costa Fruit for 14 years and retired in 1984.

Beloved husband of Maria (Pintone) Lombardo. Devoted father of Vincenzo Lombardo and his wife Angela of Medford, Carmen Lombardo and his wife Annette of Lexington, Giovanni Lombardo and his wife Giuseppina of Burlington, Maria Ibrahim and her husband Sam of Medford, Domenic Lombardo and his wife Mena of Stoneham. Loving grandfather of Guy, Stephanie, Daniel, Tania, Vincenzo, Anna, Michael, Matthew, John, Cristina, Amanda and Nicholas. Also survived by 5 loving great grandchildren. Brother of Sina, Cosimo, Pino, and Rosa all of Calabria, Italy and the late Immacolata and Domiano.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Monday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
