David Charles Grunewald
David Charles Grunewald, 66, of Ventura, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at his home.
David was born September 10, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota and was a Ventura County resident for the past 44 years, coming from St. Paul.
After being discharged from the U.S. Navy, David taught 7th grad Social Studies and History at E.O. Green Middle School for 30 years and was voted “Teacher of the Year.” He was also featured in a front page article in the Star Free Press, titled “2 Good 2 Be 4 Gotten.”
At E.O. Green, David developed a video production class. Every morning his students produced a live news bulletin that was fed to all of the classrooms. He also video recorded most school events and produced a video yearbook for the student for several years.
Summers were spent at their cabin in Minnesota on Greenlake where Dave and his wife Sandy, of 43 years, grew up as neighbors. A celebration of life will be held at their cabin in Minnesota.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Grunewald, of Ventura, CA, and brother Stanley M. Grunewald, of Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Stanly and Florence Grunewald.
