Obituary

Bernard E. “Bernie” Bailey age 77 of Brockton, died unexpectedly Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Signature Healthcare after being stricken ill at his home. He was the devoted husband of the late Barbara E. (Dadmun) Bailey. Born in Bridgewater and raised in West Bridgewater, Bernie was the son of the late Elwin and Mary (McFadden) Bailey and lived in Brockton for many years.
During the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts, Bernie proudly served in the US Army. He retired last year from the Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital after 20 years as an environmental technician. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and shopping.
Bernie loved spending time with his family and friends and will be remembered as a kind, loving and giving man who will be missed by all. His final act of compassion was to be an organ donor.
Bernie was the father of Jeanine Monteiro and her husband John, Michael Bernard Bailey and his companion Debra Garland and the late Robert Bailey. He leaves three grandchildren Barbara Lyons, Amanda LaGarde and Crystal Lawson and 8 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Edith Lewis and the late Robert Bailey and Barbara Cogswell.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Tuesday 5-7:30 pm with a Funeral Service at 7:30. Burial will be at a later date in Melrose Cemetery.
