Rita A. Demers, 89 of Brooksville, FL died Friday August 15, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Odessa, FL surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born in Derry, NH on May 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Joseph and Gabrielle (Cadieux) Legendre. She graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry Class of 1943 and later graduated from Hesser Business College in Manchester, NH. Prior to moving to Florida, Rita had resided in Londonderry and Derry, NH for many years. She had been employed as a secretary for the Londonderry School System.
Rita’s interest’s included tennis, golf, playing cards, and she was an avid sports fan, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her seven children, Peg McCune and her husband Joe of Londonderry, NH; Catherine Smith and her husband Bob of Naples, FL; Michael Demers of Londonderry, NH; William Demers and his wife Cheryl of Bassfield, MS; Thomas Demers and his wife Lolita of Metheun, MA; Mary Paul and her husband Vijay of Odessa, FL; and Robert Demers and his wife Linda-Jo of Bow, NH, her 12 grandchildren; Joseph and Jason McCune, Scott Gelinas, Mark Demers and Aimee Heaton, Nathan Ball and Kimberly Liefman, Elizabeth and Jonathan Proulx, Barrett, Benjamin and Briah Demers, 10 great-grandchildren, and by her sister, Jacqueline Gile. She was predeceased by her husband Marcel "Mike" and her granddaughter Rebecca McCune.
Calling hours were held on Thursday August 21, 2014 from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services were held on Friday at 10:00am in the funeral home with burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
