Dylis Elizabeth Riga
8/12/2014

Dylis Elizabeth (Park) Riga, age 78, of Winchester, passed away at home on August 12, 2014, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard P. Riga.

Mrs. Riga was born, raised and educated in Cornwall, Ontario, the daughter of the late John C. and Martha Park. She worked at McCord Winn Textron for many years , ultimately rising to the position of Production Manager.

In her spare time, Dylis had many hobbies. She was a member of many bowling leagues at the Woburn Bowladrome and won several tournaments with her husband Richie. They also loved dancing together, and were members of the Sons of Italy in Winchester.

Dylis was known for her natural ability to write poetry. She had a talent for collecting information and transforming it into a beautiful or funny poem, and, as a result, friends would often ask her to write poetry for various occasions.

A sports enthusiast, Mrs. Riga was a Boston sports fanatic and especially loved Tom Brady. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and often knitted and crocheted beautiful blankets for them, in their favorite colors.

From time to time she enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, but could be found playing Bingo closer to home. She liked to cook and entertain, and particularly loved to host the family at holiday dinners. Her favorites were boiled lobster dinners, and her signature drink, Kahlua and milk.

Dylis is fondly remembered for when, in the spirit of Halloween, she would dress up to go to work, and wear her costume all day. Her co-workers eagerly awaited her arrival each Halloween.

Mrs. Riga was the loving mother of Stacy Ralphs and her husband John, of Winchester, and the late Cindy Henry. She was also the sister of the late David Park, and the devoted grandmother of Samantha, Sophia and Toni Ralphs. A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Costello Funeral Home on Thurs., Aug. 21 from 6-8PM. Interment will take place at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester on Friday at 1PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dylis’ memory may be made to the Center for Cancer Care, payable to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, 611 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890.
