Obituary

Laconia-----Erwin “Sam” Sanborn, 88, of 333 Mechanic Street, Lakeport, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Wednesday, August 6, 2014.
Sam was born July 28, 1926 in Everett, Mass., the son of the late Forest and Iris Belle (Langley) Sanborn. He resided in Everett until moving to Laconia in 1945. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and had been employed by the U. S. Postal Service in Laconia for forty-seven years, retiring in 1988 as the Assistant Postmaster.
Sam was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Laconia Post #1670 and the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and ran the ping pong tournaments at the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Carmen Juliette (Fecteau) Sanborn, of Lakeport; his daughter, Heidi Beatrice Sanborn Sweetland, of Laconia; two grandchildren, Kaela Ashley Sweetland and Colin James Sweetland and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his four brothers, Russell, Parker, Arthur and Spencer and by his two sisters, Marjorie and Natalie.
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 10:30AM at the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.
