Obituary

Ruth (Semonian) Clerget passed away on August 4, 2014, at the Excel Center in Lexington, after a long illness. She was born in Charlestown, MA, grew up in Medford, MA and graduated from Medford High School in 1941.
She was married to the late John Paul Clerget of Chalmers, Indiana for many years. While he was in the Navy, they traveled extensively. After John retired, they returned to Medford.
Ruthy had a long and wonderful life and was devoted to her family. In her younger years, she was a waitress at many establishments in Boston, among them, Longwood Towers and The Copley Plaza. She had many customers who would ask for her by name. Ruth led an active life and never wanted to retire. She continued working through her seventies in the office at a wonderful organization called the Visiting Nurse Association of Hospice Care in Woburn, MA.
She was a devoted, caring and wonderful sister to her siblings and aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, constantly doting on them. She was an inspiration in all of their lives, always showed encouragement, love and selfless generosity to her family and truly to all who knew her. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by two sisters, Lillian (Semonian) and her husband Edward Scovel of Medford and Jeanette (Semonian) and her husband Robert Hedges of Natick, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom she adored, Lynn Scovel Chester and her husband Robert and their children, Robert and Ian Chester; Richard Scovel and his wife Carole; Diane Scovel Galvin and her husband Thomas and their children; Thomas, Jonathan and Colin; Nancy (Hedges) Thayer and her daughter Sarah Thayer, John Hedges and his wife Mary; Richard Silkes and his wife Michelle, sons Michael and Matthew and daughter Jessica; and Robert Silkes.
She was predeceased by her loving siblings, John Semonian, Julia (Semonian) Silkes and her husband Francis Silkes.
Her memorial service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford, Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be held Thursday, prior to the service, from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the VNA Hospice, 100 Sylvan Rd, Woburn, MA 01801. Interment will private.
