Rita J. (Hoban) Hurley, age 89, passed away at the Harbor House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hingham on Monday, August 4, 2014. Rita was the former wife of the late William Hurley and is survived by her 4 children, Donna Hurley of Weymouth, Cathy Carlow, of Weymouth, Doreen Wholey of Hull and Brian Hurley of Quincy, her sister Ann DiRocco of FL and her 2 brothers, Michael Hoban and Ron Hoban both of CA. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Rita was 1 of 7 siblings born in Boston. She grew up in Mattapan and lived in Quincy for 50 years before moving to Weymouth in 2005.
She was a hostess for the New Haven Rail Road and worked as a secretary for the Army Base in South Boston before becoming a waitress for 40 years at the Dublin House and Jordan Marsh.
The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Friday, August 8 at 8:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at the Saint Albert the Great Church, 1140 Washington St. Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.
