New Bedford – Manuel Ferraz, age 83 of New Bedford, passed away, peacefully, on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Maria (Lima) Ferraz.
Manuel was born in St. Michael, Azores, came to this country in 1967 and worked as a Fish Cutter for many years until his retirement.
His family includes his 3 children: Zelia Medeiros of New Bedford, Walter Paiva of Dartmouth and Valdemar Ferraz of New Bedford; 4 siblings: Conceicao, Fernanda and Fatima and the late Lourdes; as well as 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Wednesday morning beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
