Graveside funeral services for Evelyn G. Shingler, 90, of Ashburn, Ga., will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 4, 2014 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn, Ga. Mrs. Shingler passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Southern Care Assisted Living in Tifton, Ga. after an extended illness.

The daughter of the late John Milwood and Marie Gafford Griner, she was born in Camilla, Ga. She was a faithful member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church in Ashburn, Ga., where she was a member of the UMW. Mrs. Shingler graduated from the Georgia State Teachers College in Milledgeville, Ga., and was a die hard fan of the Georgia Bull Dawgs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jacobs Shingler, Sr. and brothers and
sister-in-law, Milwood (Edna) Griner, and Donald Griner.

Survivors include a son, Rev. George "Jay" (Harolene) Shingler, Jr. of Ashburn, Ga., a brother Harold (Francine) Griner of Loganville, Ga., sister Genova (Kenneth) Harmon of Marietta, Ga., and sister-in-law Polly Griner of Athens, Ga.
