NEW BEDFORD — Donald W. Gardiner, age 85 years, formerly of Dartmouth, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at S.E. Mass Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Susan (Pollard) Gardiner.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Beatrice (Hyde) Gardiner.
A graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1948, he served in the National Guard and especially enjoyed golfing as well as bowling. Don was a long-time member of Grace Episcopal Church and was very active with the former 20/30 Club and its activities, and was a retired salesman for Babbitt Steam Specialty Company.
His survivors include his son John A. Gardiner of Dartmouth, his daughter JoAnn Pike of San Diego, Ca., four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William Gardiner and Phyllis Besse.
It is suggested remembrances be made in his name to the charity of one's choice.
