Jeannette R. (LaBelle) Costa

CHICOPEE – Jeannette R. (LaBelle) Costa, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall North in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, a beloved daughter of the late Napoleon J. LaBelle and Pauline A. (Goetz) LaBelle. At a young age, she came to Chicopee with her parents and lived here for most of her life, moving to the Aldenville section of the city in 1956. She was employed for many years as an assembler at the former F.W. Sickles Company in Chicopee and had last worked as a cook at the former Chicopee Rest Home in Aldenville. During her leisure time, Jeannette enjoyed square dancing, working on crafts, cake decorating, sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Emidio J. “Nick” Costa who was Called Home on October 18, 1981. They were married on June 6, 1942 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 39 years of happiness together. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her cherished grandson, Kevin Baush; her dear sisters, Thelma Pierpont, Florence Sansoucy and Lorraine Cyr; and her former son-in-law, Pete Dauphinais. She leaves her devoted daughters, Joan Baush and her husband, George, of Westfield, and Sandra J. Dauphinais of Agawam; her three cherished grandchildren, Karl Baush and his wife, Katherine, Andrea Regan and her husband, Ken, and Sara Dauphinais; her cherished granddaughter-in-law, Janet Baush; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Nathan Baush, Amber and Ethan Baush, and Kaela Peich; her brother, Eugene LaBelle and his wife, Doris, of Florida; her dear brother-in-law, Albert Costa and his wife, Maryann, of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law, Sylvia Maher of Albany, NY, and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Costa and LaBelle families. A private funeral will be held for her immediate family with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sainte Rose de Lima Church followed by burial at Sainte Rose Cemetery, both in Chicopee. Private visiting hours will be held for her family at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
