TAUNTON – Jerome F. “Jerry” Michener, husband of Maria Joao (Cabral) Michener, died at Morton Hospital on July 29, 2014 after a brave and vigorous fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was 60 years old.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Mary R. (Benjamin) Michener.
A Taunton resident since his high school years, he was a 1971graduate of Taunton High School.
Jerry was employed as a truck driver by R & F Transportation for twenty-five years before retiring due to illness.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, Jerry enjoyed reading, writing, painting with oils and acrylics, driving and taking road trips.
His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of thirty-nine years, he leaves a son, Bryan J. Michener and his wife Jessica of Taunton; two daughters, Melissa A. Michener and Jason Robitaille of New Bedford and Colleen M. Michener and her fiancé Jared Vasconcellos of New Bedford; three brothers, James Michener of Braintree and Jeffrey Michener and his wife Kathleen of Wakefield, and Joseph Michener of FL; a sister, Joan DeVogel and her husband Neil of FL; his in-laws, Maria and Joseph Medeiros, Raquel and Joaquim Couto, and Gabriella Tigano; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Megan, Hannah, Caleb and Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John Michener.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway in Taunton on Monday, August 4th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday August 3rd from 4 to 7 p.m.
