John J. Colburn Jr., of Tewksbury formerly of Stoneham passed away peacefully on July 27, 2014. He was 58. Born in Boston he was one of five children of the late Joan F. (Donovan) and John J. Colburn Sr.

John was raised and educated in Stoneham. He loved the outdoors and his true passion was fishing. John fished all year round whether it was ice fishing the ponds and lakes during the winter or surf casting during the warmer months on the beaches of Plum Island. John was a member of the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing darts with his friends and for several years was very active in coaching little league baseball in Tewksbury.

John is survived by his siblings; Paul Colburn of Merrimack, NH, Patricia Colburn Flueckiger of Needham, Kathleen Butts of Wells, ME and Carol Ayala of Manchester, NH. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A funeral service celebrating John's life will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Friday, August 1st, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, July 31st; from 4 thru 8 p.m. Interment services will be private. As an avid all season fisherman his entire life the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in John's memory to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife at Parker River, 6 Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport, MA 01950.
