Carroll W. Godwin, 82, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral Services will be held at 5 PM, Monday, July 28, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home chapel, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Jeff Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 3:30 until the service hour at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Carroll was born April 18, 1932, in Irwinville, GA, to the late Hubert W. and Leila Jones Godwin. He lived forty-five years in Macon, GA and worked as a carpenter with the local carpenters union at Plant Sheerer Coal Plant. He enjoyed fishing, loved to sing in the church choir, was an avid hunter and a beekeeper, also a member of Irwinville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Fran Godwin of Irwinville; his sons, Ricky Godwin and wife Marlene of Richmond Hill, Joel Godwin and wife Christy of Byron; his daughters, Tina G. Lewis of Albany, Terri G. Macolly and husband Phil of Albany; five grandchildren, Dayne Godwin, Caleb Godwin, Jessica Conner, Melissa Dills and Ann Marie Hillard, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita G. Roberts and husband Frank of White, GA and Sandra G. Purvis and husband Virgil of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nelle Godwin and one brother, Robert H. Godwin.
