Jean Maye Chou
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Jean (Arthur) Maye Chou, 74, beloved wife of 50 years to Dr. Frank H. Chou, entered into rest in the comfort of her home on Saturday, July 26, 2014.
She was born in Screven County, GA. She attended the county high school and Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University. The family moved from Sylvania, GA to North Augusta, SC in the late 1950’s.
She married Dr. Frank H. Chou, a professor at Augusta College, in 1964. August 1, 2014 would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. They joined Aldersgate United Methodist Church in 1965 where she was active in the Mary Martha Circle and also a member of Augusta Garden Club for many years. Her major interests were reading, flower arranging, and caring for her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Kendall Porter of Martinez, GA; son: Eric Chou of North Augusta, SC; and by five grandchildren.
The family is very grateful for the competent and compassionate care given to her by Trinity Hospice Services of Augusta.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Rod Addison and Rev. Greg Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
