Hudson, MA
Carl D. Vollink, 87, of Marlboro, formerly of Hudson, died on Thursday, July 24th at The Reservoir Center in Marlboro. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris (Eye) Vollink of Marlboro.
Carl was born and raised in Archer, Iowa, son of the late Charles and Mern Vollink. He spent most of his life working the family farm in Archer and most recently along with his wife Doris moved to Hudson in 2001 to be close to their daughter Carla. He has spent the past few years at The Reservoir in Marlboro and always looked forward to the frequent bingo games he enjoyed with the residents. He became an avid Bruins fan since moving to the area and never missed watching the games. He loved and enjoyed being with his family and they will truly miss him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carla Franklin and her husband Steven of Hudson; his four grandchildren, Nichole Lane and her husband Robert of Indiana, Christina Petty of Connecticut, Jermaine Fields of Hudson and James Fields of Iowa; his 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Charlotte Walbright of Illinois and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Vollink, Marion Olsen and Janette Graham.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Sunday, July 27th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a funeral service and celebration of Carl’s life on Sunday, July 27th at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial service will be held in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson at a later date.
