Obituary

Methuen – Florence C. (Lanouette) Berry, 80 of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Lawrence General Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Berry.

Born in Methuen, Florence was the daughter of Wilfred and Mary (Beliveau) Lanouette. She graduated from St. Theresa’s High School, where she was part of their final graduating class. She was employed as a garment worker for the Polo Clothing Company. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut. In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, visiting Foxwoods, playing bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends. She was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Florence will be deeply missed by her daughter, Linda M. Balcom and her husband, Donald of Plaistow, NH; 3 sisters, Helen Prescott of Florida, Rose Drelick of Methuen, and Rita Gagnon of Methuen; 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin and his wife, Amy, Danielle, and Jamie; 2 great grandsons, Brody and Bradley; her great granddaughter, Madison; and many nieces and nephews.

God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful. He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Florence’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 2 - 6 PM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 9AM at St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Road in Dracut. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
