Mary Alice Staulcup
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, July 23, 2014, Mrs. Mary Alice Staulcup, 89, loving wife to the late Frank Staulcup.
She was a lifelong member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, member of the Turner England Fellowship Class, Joy Makers, and prayer group.
Mary Staulcup was a member of The Order Of Eastern Star for 55 years. She was instrumental in the organization of Dorothy Walton Chapter No. 490 and served as its first Worthy Matron with her husband, Frank as Worthy Patron.
During the years as chapters consolidated she became a member of Elizabeth Chapter No. 43 and presently is a member of Martinez Chapter No. 464.
She served as Worthy Matron again in 1968 and in many other offices over the years. Mary served as Grand Marshal, in 1978-79 for the Grand Chapter of Georgia. She became an Emeritus member in 1990 and received her 50 year pin in 2009. She was a loving and devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Family members include daughter: Gail Hammett (Tony Holley); sons: Gene Staulcup (Luann), Karl Staulcup (Teri); daughter-in-law: Nancy Staulcup; 10 grandchildren: 6 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Ray Staulcup.
The family would like to thank Marilyn Bowcutt and the staff at University Hospital for their compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to her caregiver, Kelsey Gfeller.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
