Albert (Sonny) Edward Spring
Born: December 16, 1929 entered into eternal rest July 21 2014
Al was born and raised in South Boston, MA where he loved to spend time at Castle Island.
Al was married to Shirley Ann (Fitzgerald) Spring for 57 years.
Together they raised 7 children, Mark and his fiancé Gay Lee of Cave Creek, AZ; Michael Spring and his wife Denise of Norwood, MA; Joanne Campbell of Mansfield, MA; Shirley Ann Bliss and her husband Greg of Medway, MA; Kathy Charlwood-Rice and her husband Phillip of Fredericksburg, VA; David Spring and his wife Judy of Basking Ridge, NJ and Stephen Spring and his wife Christine of Grantham, NH.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Michael Alan Spring, Mark Spring, Carly, Tara, Kathryn, and Joseph Campbell; Kristin Marino, Samantha and Erica Bliss; Randy and Jacob Charlwood; Sarah and Sophie Spring, Harley and Brady Spring.
Al worked for Boston Edison/NSTAR until his retirement in 1991. For the next 20 years they retired to Elizabeth City North Carolina; recently returning to Massachusetts and resided in Norfolk, MA.
Sonny was a member of the Coastal Auxiliary of North Carolina and loved being on the water and being a part of this group.
His memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 1 in St. Catherine’s Church, Norwood at 10:00a.m.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association , 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown,MA 02472.
Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home, Walpole.
