Obituary

Miss Madeleine L. Beauvais, of Taunton, died unexpectedly, Friday, July 18 at her residence. Madeleine was born in Taunton on December 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Olivier J. and Rosebelle A. (Boudreau) Beauvais. She was educated in Taunton, having graduated from the former St. Mary’s High School, and, upon graduation began her long career at the American Bell Telephone Company (“Ma Bell” as she fondly called it) and retired as a Supervisor from New England Telephone and Telegraph in 1980, when she began to spend her days assisting her aging parents, which she did with love and care, volunteering, playing sports and, her favorite activity, shopping with friends. Madeleine was a woman of great faith, participating in many church activities in the Taunton area. She was a Eucharistic Minister, serving at both Marian Manor and Morton Hospital. She was a member of the former Morton Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, where she chaired the “Taste of Taunton” fundraiser for the hospital. She was also a member of the “Red Hats” and Segregansett Country Club. Madeleine was an avid golfer, tennis and bridge player. She enjoyed her many trips to Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod. She was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Church in Taunton.
She leaves: 1 brother: Leo Beauvais and his wife, Therese of Taunton; a sister-in-law: Louise Beauvais of Taunton, her closest and dearest friend, Eileen Martin of Taunton, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Dr. Paul Beauvais and his wife, Barbara, of Orange, CT., and the late Donald Beauvais of Taunton. Madeleine was never blessed with children of her own, but cared for and loved her nieces and nephews as if they were. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be truly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, July 22 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
