Obituary

Laconia-----Paul Richard Lamere, 80, of 32 Stark Street, died at his home on Thursday, July 17, 2014 with his loving family at his side.
Paul was born August 19, 1933 in Laconia, the son of the late Lee W. and Mary (LaPlante) Lamere and was a lifelong resident of Laconia and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a mason for forty-seven years and had been employed at BPS for over 30 years.
During his high school years at Laconia High School, he enjoyed baseball and was a member of the Lakers ice hockey team. He enjoyed candlepin bowling on the men’s league and could be seen setting the pins at the old Tilton Bowling Alley, along the Winnipesaukee River. He was also a baseball coach for the Babe Ruth Baseball League – Pike’s team- for over ten years. He enjoyed catching for the Laconia City Baseball Team and also for the Men’s Softball League for many years and also enjoyed playing ping pong. He was one of the volunteers who built the concession/announcer’s booth at the Colby Field.
Paul will be remembered for his quiet presence, good humor and authenticity.
Paul was a communicant of St. Joseph Church for his entire life and was a volunteer, from counting money to using his talent for Church repairs. He was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876, the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post #1, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laconia Post #1670 and was also a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.
Paul’s family was most important to him. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Gilbert) Lamere of Laconia; three daughters, Donna Johnson and her husband, Buddy, of Sanbornton, Pam Mailloux and her husband, Jerry, and Linda Drouin and her husband, Pete, all of Laconia; three grandchildren, Joshua Groleau of Manchester, Kaylee Johnson of Sanbornton and Curtis Mailloux of Laconia; two brothers, Lee C. Lamere of Florida and Don Lamere of Merrimack; two sisters, Alice Lamere and Anne Lamere, both of Laconia; six nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by a daughter, Lois, and by two brothers, Francis “Peanut” Lamere and Fred Lamere.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 from 4:00PM-7:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Andre Bessette Parish at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.
