Obituary

Robert Lopes, husband of Jo-Ann A. Gonsalves Lopes, died at Morton Hospital on July 15, 2014.
He was 77.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Motta) Lopes.
A lifelong Taunton resident, he attended Taunton schools and later served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
A retired custodian, he was employed for many years by Bristol County Agricultural High School.
He had previously worked for the Mount Vernon Silver Co. of Attleboro.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, Mr. Lopes enjoyed fishing and spending time at Pop’s Garage, socializing with friends.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two brothers, John Lopes, Jr. of Taunton, and Ronald A. Lopes of Raynham; a sister, Donna Lopes Bell of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Krystal Lopes, and Amanda and Alyssa Malendes; four great grandchildren, Keyon Council, Keyon-Dre Council, Keyoshja Council and Tanaisha Bates; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Robert and Robin Ann Lopes, and the brother of the late Jeanette Barboza. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, July 21st at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 20th from 4 to 7 p.m.
