Robert Eugene Brant

Augusta, GA- Mr. Robert Eugene Brant, 83, died on July 14, 2014 at University Hospital. Bob was born in Springfield, Ohio, on February 24, 1931, the son of Lewis Eugene Brant and Louella Fry Brant. His birth mother died when Bob was an infant, and his father remarried when Bob was 2 years old. He was raised and nurtured by his father and most loving stepmother, Lucile M. Brant. All three preceded him in death.
Bob was a gifted graphic artist having received his formal education at the University Of Cincinnati School Of Applied Arts. After college he worked as an illustrator at an advertising agency in Cincinnati until he was as Art Director for Springprint Paper Products in Springfield, OH where he had worked as a co-op student. He later became Director of Marketing, and when Springprint relocated to Augusta in 1990 Bob transferred with the company and made Augusta his home. He retired from Springprint in 1996 after working for the company for 40 years. In his retirement he continued using his artistic gifts by means of designing and creating stained glass pieces. His creativity was also used in his love of gardening. He loved sailing small sailboats on many lakes in Ohio and New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Brownell Brant; his three children, daughter Bonnie B. Versele (Dennis), Bellefontaine, OH; sons Mark Alan Brant (Pam), Maysville, KY, and Brian Scott Brant (Yadira), Tampa, FL; his brother, William E. Brant (Linda), La Center, WA; eight grandchildren, Matthew Wildermuth, Bellefontaine, OH; Craig Brant, Burlington, KY, Kathryn Brant, Cincinnati OH, Emily Brant, Fort Thomas, KY; Christopher Versele (Chelsea), Cincinnati, OH, Kyle Brant, Maysville, KY; and Evan and Natalia Brant, both of Tampa, FL; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Brant, both of Burlington, KY.; a niece, Amy Massie, Beaverton, OR; and a nephew William E. Brant (Chelsea) of Oak Harbor, WA.
As a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, he was a member of the George Balentine Sunday School Class and was actively and joyously involved with the Benevolence ministry there for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19 in the Storey Chapel at First Baptist Church Augusta. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the Atrium. Burial in the Memorial Garden will follow immediately after the service. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the George Balentine Class and the Benevolence Ministry.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the Nursing and PCA staff in the Palliative Care Unit of University Hospital for their gentle and caring service to Bob and the family during his last days.
