DeVIRGILIO, Philomena T. “Phyllis” (Scanlon) Lifelong resident of Dedham, July 15, 2014. Born January 17, 1932 in Manhattan, raised in Glasgow, Scotland.

Beloved wife of Vincent J. DeVirgilio for 60 years. Devoted mother of Domenic DeVirgilio and his late wife Barbara of Norwood, Bonnie Quinlan and her husband Bill of Dedham, Mary DeVirgilio and her companion Michael Keller of Dedham, Anne DeVirgilio of Dedham, and Vincent DeVirgilio Jr. and his fiancé David Gray of Hull. Beloved grammy of Taylor and her husband Dan of Dedham, Judith, William, Dylan, Waylon, Devin, and Wyatt. Beloved great-grammy of Cooper. Beloved aunt of Patricia Flannery of Dedham. Mother-in-law of Henry Gough. Daughter of the late John and Margaret Scanlon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in the States and Scotland. Mrs D. will be missed by all.

Phyllis volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Den Mother, St. Mary’s CCD Teacher, and at St. Mary’s Parish Center. Retired employee of the M.D.A and Gerrity Lumber. Phyllis will always be remembered for her great faith, generous spirit, and baking talents.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Saturday, July 19 at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 9 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Friday, July 18 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
