James R. Thomas, 61 of New Bedford died Thursday July 10, 2014 unexpectedly at home. He was the husband of Annette Cote.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Philip J. and Loretta (Grady) Thomas, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Thomas was formerly employed by the City of New Bedford Wastewater Department.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a former Golden Gloves boxer.
He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Alissa Thomas, Becky Thomas, Sonya Cote, Christy Cote, Wendy Thomas, and Jammie Thomas; a brother, Anthony Lima; two sisters, Debbie Thomas and Cheryl Queripal; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
His Memorial Service will be held on Thursday August 7, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 884 Kempton St., New Bedford.
